BBC Twin for 2012 Project
It has been a long time since my last post. I have got some news on a current projects that we will be working on under the Schools Online program. I have received a response from the British Council people informing that we have managed to get a partner school for the upcoming project which is Queens Park Community School (England). The planning of the activities is still in progress and we need to achieve an agreement on what we are about to do for the project. The theme given is Olympic Games. Here are some suggestions given by the British Council:
- Design a 2012 lunch box
- Promote your National sport
- Write a day in the life of your favourite sports person
- Design a 2012 T-Shirt
- Plan a tour of London for your country’s athlete
However, it is not necessary for us to follow exactly what have been listed on the above. We can come out with our own set of activities. If you have any idea regarding the activities for the project, do let me know by posting comments in this blog, send message via email (I think i have told most of you in my class), via facebook or you can come and see me personally.
The next activity is designed by using PBL approaches. I named the project as 'THE JOURNALIST'. Below are some brief information on the project:
Aims/objectives: to boost creativity in writing, encourage students to communicate in English, encourage students to get to know their school better, learn language skills in fun ways, improve creative and critical thinking, encourage students to read more to find more information, train students to be a group leader and to work as a team.
Age range: 14-15
Number of participants: 140 students
Activities planned:
- designing a front cover of a magazine
- school ambassador/personality
- advertisement battle
- issues and dilemma column
- fashionista
- school culture
We will start the second project very soon. I think after the first exam. Task schedule will be distributed to each participating group during the introduction-to-the-project session.
