Important Message for 1 Tekun students!

I have just received an email from the project coordinators. They have told me that we have to present the popplet that we've made. So, i really hope my dear students that you have completed your popplet. Below are the things that we need to do for the presentation:

"The UNESCO ICT Team discussed the programme for the KISP Culminating Activity. We decided on just having the outputs of 6 months presented - so that each school will be represented in the presentations.
The tentative schedule will be on 25 July 2012, Wednesday, 9.00-10.00 am Bangkok time
  1. For schools who implemented the Weather Calendar project, kindly choose one of two months listed for your school below and then assign a student from your class belonging to that month to present the group's popplet output for 5 minutes (in effect, only 6 months will be presented for a total of 30 minutes only):
a.         Amena-Baki Residential Model School, Bangladesh – May or November
b.      Daegu Wolam Elementary School, Korea – January or July
c.       Iligan City National High School, Philippines – April or September
d.       Integrated Developmental School - MSU-IIT, Philippines – March or August
e.      Temenggong Ibrahim Girls' School, Malaysia – February or December
f.        Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang College, Malaysia – June or October
For example, if Rahi (teacher from Bangladesh) selects November, then he might assign Nur Zaman to present the output of the international group that worked on the November popplet calendar since Nur was part of this international group.
We need to get your decisions on 1) your school's selected month and 2) assigned student to present the popplet output this morning so that we can put the details in the programme that will be sent as the official invitation."

Have your popplet done before 25th July.

This project is assigned to 2 Tekun students. I have sent your 'self introduction' to Ms Myung from Korea. I hope you have proceeded to the next task of the project. Below is the copy of Ms Myung's email to me regarding the procedures and tasks for the project:

"We will have global festival in the biginning of October.
So, we need Malaysian items(Be sure to send your real national flag) to introduce many visitors and 800 students.
Students also search all about Malaysia. Would you like to send your cultural items to my students?
We also send Korean traditional items to you. That's the project 'Culture in a Box'
Therefore, we follow 3 big steps as follow:

1. Introduction : with Video or PPT, students introduce themselves to your students.

2. Cultural items
7 Groups of 4 find 10 items that represent Korea. They will collect these and send parcels to you.
(for expensive items, use cut-out pictures; or for large monuments use a photo or a model).
 3. Item Explanation
Students prepare explanations about cultural items using PPT or Video.....

3. After Culture Box Essay

Our schedule could be as follows;
1. We divide into 7 groups of 4.
2. We will send you students' self introductions until July 13th via E-MAIL.
* You and I have problems with uploading and downloading.
* Teachers collect introduction files, and send you all together.
3. Each group will send 10 items until July 20th in Korea. But we don't know the date you receive culture box. It depends on delivery service.
4. We will send you explanations about the items by July 26th.

Capacity Building Workshop on Project-Based Learning and Tellecollaboration

7-10 May 2012
Capacity Building Workshop on Project-Based Learning and Tellecollaboration was organised by UNESCO Bangkok with IPGK Tun Hussein Onn, funded by Korean Fund-In-Trust.
Unesco worshop
Facilitators: Dr. Jonghwi Park, Ms Maria Melisa Tan, Dr. Soon Seng Thah, Mr. Gilbert Perreire & Ms Zamimah Azaman.
Participants: 30 teachers from 15 schools of Batu Pahat district.
  Venue: Conference Room IPGKTHO

"A session with Ms. Zamimah Azaman  of Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang College helped us grasp the benefits and challenges in actually implementing PBL. We had set her PBL experience as the benchmark to initiate our own projects for our students. Since Ms. Zamimah’s project involved secondary school students, it made us ask ourselves whether our primary school pupils would be able to do the same thing. Fortunately, through the guidance of the UNESCO trainers and IPTHO mentors, we were able to outline and customize the draft of our intended projects to be practical and achievable by our pupils." PROJECT COLLABORATION WITH INDIA

This project has been assigned to form 4Tekun students.

I have just received an email from the teacher of the school which we are going to collaborate with. He has suggested on how the project can be carried out. Please refer to the copy of his email below for further information. By the way, I hope that all of you have done your brief introduction on yourself. Combine all the introduction essays in one file and give the soft copy for me so that I can straight away send it to Mr Peu.

"Thanks for your reply.Your proposed Age Group for the learning exchange is absolutely fine. We shall take up a few theme based projects upon which our students will work and share their learning experiences with each other. Lets say HELLO to each other through a project. My students here are preparing a presentation on Malaysia and coffee plantation. It is a part of their project Travelogue. Probably your students could share some information about themselves, the country and coffee plantation in your country, with us. They can also ask us about India and say Tea Plantation here. Your students can also prepare presentation on India, its history, culture, tradition and we can mutually exchange our student work and find out how the two countries are similar.
Hope you agree to this and we can begin the task soon.I shall be mailing you a questionnaire and a presentation prepared by our students. I think that will help you."

Awaiting your response

Regards

Peu, India

Dear 1 Tekun students,

Here are a few examples shared by Rhea from Philippines on how your weather calendar should look like. You just need to explore and follow the instruction given to have your calendar created easily. Of course there should be information searching done. You can use the online research form which you have used in your previous task to guide you through your information searching process. Get the form from me.

Please be reminded that you should do/have done the following:
1. must have introduced themselves at the EC groups
2. Commented on introductions from other schools
3. Answered summary of weather information for the month at www.tinyurl.com/kispweatherdata
4. Answered forum of similarities and differences in weather conditions at EC groups
5. Collaborated in the creation of the weather calendar using popplet. Schools from Philippines have started the collaborative activity. All teachers and students in each group were already invited so kindly check your emails and inform your students to check their emails as well. Students should not create a separate calendar/popplet for this project. they must use what has been started by Philippine schools.
6. advise students to also include Canada and China in the weather calendar. please see the inputs from China and Canada in the attached files. (These are as instructed by the project coordinator).
