Open to all participating Connecting Classroom UK & East Asia schools. The ‘Better Community, Better Life’ project & competition is designed to focus on developing e better understanding and celebration of our unique and diverse communities. There are 6 Community themes on which you can work on:
Theme 1: Changing Community
Theme 2: Community Culture
Theme 3: Community Diversity
Theme 4: People & Community
Theme 5: Environment & Community
Theme 6: Sound of the Community
There are many ways in which you and your school can participate by choosing one of the themes and working together in class and online in order to share knowledge and understanding of your community through use of Art, Language, Music, Multimedia or a combination of these.
There will be a number of prizes at student, class and teacher level.
The starting date for registration is 1 August and will be open until 31 October to give schools from all countries plenty of time to enter.
Project activities will run from 1 November 2010 until 31 March 2011.
Competition rules:
1. Only one entry per category per school will be accepted.
2. Registration for the competition will be accepted between 1 August and 31 October. No registration will be accepted before or after those dates.
3. Competition entries may be submitted by using two methods:
a. Uploading in electronic format to the Connecting Classrooms Online Community Better Community Better Life project space available from the http://cc.britishcouncil.org/bcbl.
b. Burning to CDROM or DVD format and sending your class entries to your country’s British Council office address supplied on the Better Community, Better Life project space available from http://britishcouncil.org/bcbl.
4. Competition submissions will be accepted between 1 November 2010 and 31 March 2011. Materials submitted after the 31 March deadlines will not be accepted.
5. Each category of entry will be judge by a panel of experts from the British Council Connecting Classrooms team. There will be one winner and two runner-ups for all categories at country level. Overall Regional winners and two runner-ups will be chosen from each country.
6. The decision of the British Council Connecting Classrooms competition judges will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
7. Prizes will be announced on the Better Community, Better Life project space available from http://britishcouncil.org/bcbl
8. Winners of country and regional categories will be announced on the Better Community, Better Life project space available from http://cc.britishcouncil.org/bcbl on 15 April 2011.
